"Beautiful Beasts"

Artist Katherine Masters happened to be photographing a big wave rider the day she got inspired to do this shoot. The waves were hypnotising her through the lens, instead of shooting the surfer she started paying more attention to the waves. What she felt was a definite sense of flow whilst she waited for the punctum in each of the waves in this series. 

This series was photographed in Praia do Norte, Nazaré, Portugal. This wave is considered to be one of the largest and most powerful waves in the world; ridden by humans.

About the artist:
Katherine Masters is an Anglo-Portuguese fine artist and photographer living in Cascais, a coastal resort town in Portugal, just west of Lisbon. She is a graduate of Goldsmiths University of London and Central Saint Martins. Her artwork focuses primarily on the natural world and the human condition. Working mainly with watercolors, acrylic and photography, she draws upon a contemporary and rich visual language that seeks to investigate themes through the exploration of color.
