"If I could say it with words, there would be no reason to paint."

This quote from Edward Hopper describes quite precisely why and how Katja Jungwirth's large-scale works of art are created.

Katja is a self-taught artist from Munich, slightly obsessed with the color pink, raw canvas and strong coffee. Her paintings are predominantly in acrylic, but she also uses other materials such as oil pastels, charcoal and spray paint.

In addition to her own feelings, she often draws inspiration from song lyrics, poems or quotes from books. Katja originally painted only abstractly, but over time more and more figurative motifs have emerged - always feminine, expressive and emotional. She alternates freely between abstraction and figuration and it is precisely this mixture that creates tension and uniqueness.

"What makes art so exciting and so special for me is the fact that there is no right or wrong, no "that's the way it has to be" or "you shouldn't do it like that". Anything is possible in art, and art gives us every freedom we dare to take."

In Katja's 3-hour Painting Workshop "Abstraction, Figuration and Emotion" you have the opportunity to create your own large-scale acrylic painting on (raw) canvas. Starting with a figurative sketch that you draw at the beginning of the workshop, you can let your feelings run freely and put everything that moves you on the canvas.

How abstract or figurative you design the work is entirely up to you. Artist and painter Katja offers the necessary support and inspiration, provides technical guidance, provides valuable tips and is happy to answer any questions that arise during the creative process.

At the beginning of the workshop you receive your personal sketchbook for making the figurative drawings, which you can then take home with you and continue to fill with your own ideas. In addition, you will of course receive your self-made work of art (on a stretched frame..."ready to hang" so to speak :-).

Katja is looking forward to the creative exchange with you! xxx

The Painting Workshop "Abstraction, Figuration and Emotion" is just right for you if you:

  • don't like any restrictions regarding abstract or figurative painting and would like to try both.
  • want to give your emotions the space they need while painting.
