Step into Margarida’s ceramic studio in Caldas da Rainha and experience clay in its most direct and expressive form. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore three different ceramic techniques - no prior experience needed.
Margarida will guide you through a short introduction to ceramics, sharing the essential principles of working with clay and revealing why this ancient material is so deeply connected to the cultural identity and history of Caldas da Rainha.
During the session, you’ll have the freedom to create your own unique pieces. After the workshop, your creations will be carefully fired and glazed by the artist. Once ready, they can be collected locally or shipped to your home for an additional fee.
About the artist:
Margarida is a Portuguese ceramic artist and designer based in Caldas da Rainha. Her practice is rooted in ceramics and the appreciation for traditional craftsmanship. By exploring and reinterpreting traditional techniques, she creates a dialogue between heritage and contemporary expression, resulting in pieces with a strong and distinctive identity. Invested in a sustainable production, she uses local resources in small handmade series.

Margarida is a gem and should be protected at all costs. We had maybe the best experience when it comes to ceramic workshops. Margarida is highly trained professional but gives off friend vibes so you feel at ease immediately. We learned a lot about different types of clay and even a new method. Looking forward to visiting her studio again to pick up our pieces. Would recommend this class to anyone interested in learning about ceramics.

Every single moment of this workshop was created and taught with such care and thoughtfulness. Margarida even had the most beautiful and tasty pastries and tea for me! She was a wonderful teacher and I left with so much more knowledge about hand building techniques. I also felt like I left with a new friend! Margarida taught me not only about pottery, but about Portugal and the people. She was sweet, kind, and extremely talented. I can’t recommend this workshop enough. I absolutely loved it, and if I’m ever in the area again I will be back!
