Learn cardboard furniture construction techniques and create your own cardboard bedside table!

Meet artist Angélina Maia for her Cardboard Furniture Construction Workshop at her beautiful workspace in Boliqueime, a small village in the middle of Portugal’s Algarve region.

During her Cardboard Furniture Construction Workshop in Boliqueime, Portugal, Angélina shows you how you can construct a bedside table with a drawer from scratch. You can choose between different models.

The goal of the workshop is to create a nice and solid piece of furniture by recycling cardboard boxes. It is certainly a good alternative to the consumption society facing the actual crisis.

You learn all cardboard furniture construction basic techniques through different steps.

Thanks to the teaching and techniques learnt during the training course, you will rapidly become so skilled that you can develop further cardboard projects autonomously after the workshop!

At the end of the Cardboard Furniture Construction Workshop you can take your bed side table home with you. After 3 days of drying, you can apply the paint and after one more day drying, you can apply the varnish coat.

About the artist:

Angélina has been enjoying and exploring cardboard through all its forms and possibilities since 2011. Over the years and after many experiments, she has moved to a more artistic universe: Creating cardboard sculptures.

By creating sculpture made of cardboard, the artist can express her own emotions and sensitivity in an authentic, natural way. Angélina takes her inspiration from antic Greek sculptures and artists such as Alberto Giacometti and Igor Mitoraj.

She likes to imagine her sculptures fragmented, desintegrated, like arqueological statue remains which have just been unearthed. She uses old cardboard boxes to reduce the ecological impact of her creations.

After some exhibitions in Portugal, she participates now in many international exhibitions such as Art Shopping Paris, Art3F Paris, Artexpo New York, Arts Atlantic La Rochelle, Art Nordic Copenhagen and Art Connects Women in Dubai.

Her sculptures are exhibited in art galleries in Portugal, France and Switzerland and many private collections such as in Canada, Denmark, England, India, Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland and the U.S.
