Sobre la artista:

Nacida en Coimbra (¡antigua capital de Portugal!) en 1970, la artista textil Maria Pratas sintió que su licenciatura en Educación Visual, centrada sobre todo en la bidimensionalidad de lo observado, estrechaba su necesidad de trabajar a escala tridimensional.

Siempre sintió curiosidad por las materias primas y el modo en que pueden transformarse. Así que se sumergió de lleno en el mundo de los textiles y el arte de la cestería.

Had a great workshop with Maria in her studio! She is passionate about her work and so generous when it comes to share her knowledge or any information. I was looking forward to meet her, since I started to learn basketry from Canada during the pandemic and mostly had online courses with various teachers.
