Are you ready to slow down, get your hands messy and discover the calming magic of clay?
During Dorka’s Wheel Throwing Ceramic Workshop in Budapest, Hungary, you'll step into the beautiful world of ceramics and learn how to shape clay on the pottery wheel. Whether you're trying wheel throwing for the very first time or already have some experience, this class invites you to explore creativity in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
The workshop takes place at their cozy little ceramic studio and creative hideaway in Downtown Budapest. Small in size but full of warmth, the studio offers everything needed to learn, experiment and enjoy the process. Here, wheel throwing is more than learning a skill - it's a moment to slow down, breathe and reconnect with yourself.
Clay has a special way of bringing us back into the present moment. As your hands begin to work with the material, you'll experience the gentle dance between movement, breath and touch. And don't worry about perfection - here you are invited to laugh at wobbly shapes, embrace happy accidents and enjoy every imperfect step along the way.
During the 3-hour session, participants usually create 2–3 ceramic pieces.
Once the class is finished, you leave your creations safely at the studio, where Dorka and her team take care of the next magical steps:
Trimming, drying, firing, glazing in your chosen colors, and a final firing.
Around two weeks later, your finished ceramic pieces are ready to be picked up from the studio - transformed from soft clay into lasting handmade memories.
You can also get your pieces shipped to your home for an additional fee - please let the artist know during your session.
About the artist:
Dorka discovered ceramics over 30 years ago while studying at the Secondary School of Visual Arts and later at MOME. She has been teaching wheel throwing for the past 6 years and loves accompanying students from their first touch of clay all the way to more advanced techniques.
For Dorka, pottery is not just about creating objects - it’s about finding harmony between breath, movement and material. It's about quieting the mind, refining your sense of touch and connecting with your center. And before reaching that peaceful flow state?
There is plenty of dancing with imperfection, learning through the process and sharing lots of laughter along the way.
