Create Your Own Portuguese Tiles in Faro

Would you like to experience one of Portugal’s most iconic art forms while creating something personal with your own hands?

In this tile painting workshop in Faro, participants are introduced to the world of Portuguese azulejo painting - from traditional motifs and ornamental patterns to more contemporary and experimental approaches. Guided step-by-step by artist Marisa, you will learn different painting techniques and create three personalized ceramic tiles to take home.

No previous experience is necessary.

Throughout the workshop, guests are encouraged to slow down, experiment creatively, and connect with Portuguese culture through craftsmanship and artistic expression.

At the end of the session, the tiles are professionally fired and can either be collected 1–2 days later or shipped worldwide upon request for an additional fee.

Traditional Portuguese refreshments and treats are included during the workshop.

About the artist:

Marisa Murtinha (1997, Loulé, Portugal) is a Portuguese visual artist specializing in hand-painted ceramic tiles and contemporary azulejo-inspired artworks.

Passionate about drawing and painting from an early age, Marisa began exploring tile painting professionally while living in Porto, where she discovered a deep connection to the craft and history of Portuguese ceramics.

In 2026, she founded her atelier in her hometown of Loulé, creating decorative and functional ceramic pieces inspired by the colors, symbols, and visual language of traditional Portuguese tilework, reinterpreted through a contemporary artistic lens.
