Discover the fascinating world of Orthodox icon art during this hands-on Icon Painting and Mixed Media Workshop in Budapest with contemporary artist and icon painter Oksana. In this welcoming 3-hour art workshop, you'll create your own aged-style icon on a wooden panel using traditional-inspired techniques combined with contemporary mixed-media materials. No previous drawing or painting experience is required — all skill levels are welcome.

Together, you'll explore the decoupage technique before adding crackle gels, gold leaf, metallic powders, and other mixed-media materials to create an authentic antique finish. Along the way, Oksana will introduce you to the symbolism and visual language of Orthodox icons and the medieval Byzantine artistic canon that shaped this sacred art tradition.
