Join ceramic artist and designer Yvonne Rausch for a cozy and inspiring Nerikomi ceramic workshop, where color, clay, and creativity come together in unexpected ways.

During this hands-on experience, you’ll learn the ancient Japanese layering technique of Nerikomi - a fascinating ceramic process in which differently colored clays are carefully layered, combined, sliced, and transformed into naturally patterned surfaces.

Unlike painting or glazing, the patterns in Nerikomi emerge from inside the clay itself, making every piece completely unique.

Guided step by step by Yvonne, you will create two individually designed ceramic plates while discovering how color, texture, and form interact. Along the way, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of clay as a material - its possibilities, limitations, and the quiet beauty of working slowly with your hands.

This workshop is not about perfection. It is about curiosity, experimentation, and reconnecting with the joy of making something yourself.

No previous ceramic experience is required.

After the workshop, your plates will be professionally glazed and fired in Yvonne’s studio and can either be picked up later or shipped upon request for an additional fee.

About the Artist

Yvonne Rausch is a ceramic artist and product designer based in Vienna and originally from Colombia.

Her artistic practice combines playful geometric forms with experimental ceramic techniques and the integration of wild clays collected from different parts of the world. Fascinated by material exploration and traditional craft methods, she creates handmade objects somewhere between functional tableware and sculptural pieces.

In her ceramic workshops, Yvonne shares the ceramic techniques she loves most - creating an atmosphere that feels inspiring, welcoming, insightful, and fun.
Her goal is to help people connect through making and leave with both new skills and a deeper appreciation for handmade objects.
