Japanese Ceramic Workshop – Raku
This first class, lasting around 2.5 hours, introduces you to the manual shaping of a ceramic piece. Tea, coffee, and cakes are offered at each session.
Our Raku pottery classes for adults follow three key steps:
-
Shaping: Create your pieces in clay, followed by a first firing carried out by us.
-
Glazing: Apply the glazes that will bring your creations to life.
- Firing: Attend the spectacular second firing (= Raku), scheduled according to weather conditions and the number of participants.
About the Artist:
"My wife and I have always nurtured our creativity through painting, acrylics, ink work, collage, and sculpture.
Raku-yaki, a Japanese two-firing ceramic technique, captivates us with its wabi-sabi aesthetic, where imperfection and natural beauty are celebrated.
Passionate about Japan and art in its various forms — ceramics for me, and ink and collage for my wife — we love sharing these passions at our guesthouse located in the heart of Brittany, over local, organic, and delicious food and drinks."
