Esmeralda Dias aka. ZALDA is a fashion designer and illustrator from Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal. She was one of the 5 finalists from an eco-design national competition while she was finishing her degree in Fashion Design at ESAD in 2021. Shortly after, Esmeralda decided to try her luck and go solo at Portugal Fashion Week. She ended up in the finale of the competition for new emerging fashion designers with her own brand ZALDA.
During her ✨Textile Printing and Upcycling Techniques Workshop✨ you learn how to reuse textiles and recover garments. Her workshop speaks both to complete beginners and already more experienced people in the textile upcycling area.
The goal of the workshop is to experiment and understand the beauty of textile waste within ZALDA's trashy aesthetic side and how to apply it on your own clothing transformations. You will leave the workshop with a new piece of clothing, a few experiment pieces and a new skill set for a future use outside the artist’s studio.
Esmeralda gives you some new creative ideas and tools to get you started in the sustainable fashion thinking. Her credo is and has always been: "Money does not have to be a barrier in fashion.“
