Pottery Wheel Workshop - in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal

Joana Brás is a Portuguese designer and ceramicist, based in Caldas da Rainha. She produces small batches of homeware ceramics and decoration pieces. Her production is mostly made in the potter's wheel, an ancestral technique that she has been practicing over the past five years. All of her production tries to follow a sustainable way, with the help of local resources.

   

During Joana's "Pottery Wheel Workshop" you first get an intro to the world of ceramics, the pottery wheel, some basic explanations of the material itself and what you are about to do with it in the next three hours:

You will create your own unique vase, cup or bowl using the pottery wheel technique. In the final hour you can paint your pieces and add a colorful touch to them.
