"BARBARA" Cardboard Sculpture
Artist Angélina Maia has been enjoying and exploring cardboard through all its forms and possibilities since 2011. Over the years and after many experiments, she has moved to a more artistic universe: Creating cardboard sculptures.
By creating sculpture made of cardboard, the artist can express her own emotions and sensitivity in an authentic, natural way. Angélina takes her inspiration from antic Greek sculptures and artists such as Alberto Giacometti and Igor Mitoraj. She likes to imagine her sculptures fragmented, desintegrated, like arqueological statue remains which have just been unearthed. She uses old cardboard boxes to reduce the ecological impact of her creations.
After some exhibitions in Portugal, the Portuguese artist participates now in many international exhibitions such as Art Shopping Paris, Art3F Paris, Artexpo New York, Arts Atlantic La Rochelle, Art Nordic Copenhagen and Art Connects Women in Dubai.
Angélina's cardboard sculptures are exhibited in art galleries in Portugal, France and Switzerland and many private collections such as in Canada, Denmark, England, India, Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland and the U.S.
