Learn more about Daniela in the subcultalk below!

Hi Daniela, what kind of art do you make?

I’m a multidisciplinary designer who specializes in both graphic and textile design. My work focuses around finding innovative ways to make graphic design more tactile and memorable by using traditional handcraft techniques. I translate graphic concepts onto textiles and objects using methods like tufting, embroidery, and printing, which then become wall tapestries, home furnishings, sculptures, and even wearable pieces.

How did you find your way to your art?

My journey into art was quite organic. Growing up in a family of artists and artisans, I was constantly encouraged to express myself through my hands. This passion deepened in high school when I decided to pursue Visual Arts. Eventually, it led me to study Fashion Design and later Communication Design at university. Now, I run my own studio in Malmö, where I continue to explore the intersections of textiles, graphic design, and art direction, working on both personal and commissioned projects.

When do you feel most productive?

I find that my most productive moments happen in the early morning. When everything is still quiet, and my mind feels clear, making it the perfect time to connect deeply with my creative process. There’s something about the morning light and the calmness of these hours that allows me to focus intensely and bring my ideas to life.

What inspires you?

Inspiration comes to me from different things, but nature and the graphic design found in everyday life are particularly influential. The patterns and textures of the natural world often inform my choices in color and composition, merging with a strong graphic style inspired by typography, packaging, fruit stickers, stamps, and more. I love to blend organic visuals with bold, graphic elements to create something unique.

Do you have a vision or goal you are working towards?

My vision is to keep evolving as a designer, continuously pushing the boundaries of what I can create by blending graphic design with traditional handcrafts. I’m always looking for new ways to communicate through my work. In the long run, I hope to expand my practice by incorporating larger-scale projects and collaborating with other artists and brands on interdisciplinary ventures.

What do you do when you feel "stuck"?

When I have a creative block, I turn to nature and physical movement to reset. Taking a walk outdoors, especially in a natural setting, helps me clear my mind and regain perspective. I also like to revisit my old sketchbooks and work or experiment with new techniques and materials. By giving myself the freedom to create without the pressure of producing something finished, I often find new ideas and breakthroughs.
