In this subcultalk, we step into the world of Katja Krämer aka KAT - artist, founder of subcultours, and creative force guided by intuition and authenticity. Through her reflections, she shares insights into her artistic practice, personal inspirations, and the values that shape both her work and her way of living.
Katja is also the host of immersive creative experiences in Berlin, including the Private Psychedelic Painting Sunset Session at her art studio in Berlin as well as the Team Building Painting Workshop Emotional Abstract Art.
1. What kind of art do you create?
I paint, mostly abstract, bold and intuitively.

2. How did you discover your path in art?
I was craving peace, calm, and a way to just play, paint, relax, and be only with myself and bold, bright colors that I love.

3. What keeps you motivated to continue practicing your art?
I don't need motivation for it. I paint whenever I feel like it.

4. Looking back, what has been your personal highlight as an artist?
When I exhibited some of my first canvases in a coffeeshop in my neighborhood and unexpectedly sold one for a great price to a lovely small young family.

5. When do you feel most creative or productive?
When I'm 100% in line with my own energy and have a free and clear mind.

6. Who or what inspires you the most?
Myself, my partner, and traveling to new beautiful and interesting places in this world.

7. What small things in life bring you the greatest joy?
The genuine smile of my partner and other beautiful soulful human beings.

8. Do you have a vision or goal that you’re currently working toward?
Trying every day to feel the best way possible and listen to my body, mind and soul.

9. How would you define a life well-lived?
Living my life in line with my own values and beliefs.

10. What do you do when you feel stuck or uninspired?
Accepting this state and trying to do things that uplift me like moving, traveling, doing sports, sleeping, going to the sauna, eating, talking to someone.



11. What feeling do you love the most?
When I feel proud of myself. When I feel deeply happy and grateful.

12. Which feeling do you dislike or find hardest to deal with?
When I feel disrespected or unloved.

13. What’s your favorite movie - the first one that comes to mind?

14. What’s a book you’d recommend to anyone - the first one that comes to mind?
Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl.

15. If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
Silence.

16. What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?
Mmhhh there are plenty... top of mind I say burger and fries, chicken nuggets, delicious ice cream.

17. Is there a food or drink you can’t live without?
Coffee and cake :)

18. Where is your happy place - at home, in nature, or somewhere else entirely?
At home, in my bed, in the sauna, and at the beach :)

19. Name an artist or person who inspires you - the first one that comes to mind.
